VIPS
Volunteers in Police Service are needed to address the increasing demands on state and local law
enforcement agencies. Examples of volunteer support activities include: assisting with traffic control,
impounding and storing marked abandoned vehicles, searching for missing persons, booking
property, answering phones during emergencies and more.

The Medical Reserve Corps will provide local communities with volunteer health professionals who
can assist health professionals during a large-scale local emergency. Practicing and retired health
care professionals will be a on a medical reserve list, ready to be called in emergencies.

The Neighborhood Watch Program is already a strong force in community protection in
America's neighborhoods. President Bush and Attorney General Ashcroft have announced that the
National Sheriffs' Association will expand the Neighborhood Watch Program so that it serves more of
the community.

CERT
The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program trains individuals in emergency
preparedness and basic response techniques to enable them to provide critical support to first
responders during emergencies.

TIPS
Operation TIPS is a Terrorist information and Prevention System. This system will tap millions of
workers who, by the nature of their jobs, are well-positioned to recognize unusual events. Operation
TIPS will provide them with a toll free number to report suspicious activities.

RED CROSS
They offer CPR and first aid in Lebanon every second Tuesday of the month. To register you would
need to call 417-832-9500, If there are enough people interested we can give the Red Cross
Disaster Orientation (2 hours) In Lebanon and then the Introduction to Disaster and Mass Care
Course in Lebanon. We would need to have at least 6-8 people. If not, individuals can go to
Springfield and take these courses. These are the intro courses to get involved in Red Cross
volunteering. The schedule will be on the web page.
